Flavors of Munroe 2010

Dr. Charlie and Paula King attended the Foundation’s Flavors of Munroe in April. Thank you Charlie and Paula for sharing a part of your San Diego adventure.

Paula King writes:

We had a great time at "Flavors of Munroe" and were there to support the hospital, but were pleased to get the added bonus of this trip offered at the Silent Auction. San Diego is familiar territory to us as we lived near there for four years during Charlie's service in the military.

It was fun to go back and tour San Diego Bay, home of the US Pacific Fleet, on the America's Cup racing yacht Abra Cadabra, albeit in less wind than we'd hoped for. Coincidentally, it was Fleet Week so the public was allowed to board a couple of Navy ships not normally open to the public. We had a great tour of the USS Freedom (LCS1), the lead ship in a new class of combat ships in the Navy. Pretty amazing.  We had a very relaxing weekend, enjoyed great food and accommodations, and felt the added assurance of meeting some of the young men and women who serve our country so ably.
